Resource for Minority Students Interested in Medicine
Cottonwood Students interested in becoming a Doctor or working in medicine. Check out
this podcast created by a local SLC Physician, Marina Capella, MD, MEd. Here is what she shared with us.
My physician colleague and I recently started a podcast called The Future Minority Doctor Podcast which aims to empower and inspire under-represented minority high school and college students to become doctors. We know that under-represented minorities (including Hispanics, Blacks, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans) often face many unique challenges on their educational journey. We hope to help them know that they can become doctors and empower them with tools to succeed in doing so.
You can learn more about our podcast and access it through our website, futureminoritydoctor.com. We also have a resource page specifically targeted to high school students which you can access here: Advice for High School Students. The podcast can also be accessed through various podcast apps, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher. We also have a Facebook page (Future Minority Doctor) and Instagram account (futureminoritydoctor) that students can follow for updates.
