Ways to earn Credits at Cottonwood High School this summer:


  • Jump Start School for English Language Learners, Newcomers and Refugees. June

5th - July 13th. Half day. Classes taught by instructors. Earn 2 full credits (credit recovery or new credit). For more information and to apply CLICK HERE.











  • Cottonwood Credit Recovery: For any Cottonwood High School student that needs

to replace an F in a required course. Credit Recovery will be during the month of June only. 9am - 2pm. No sign up required. LOCATION is to be determined. If you have credit recovery to complete the classes you need to complete will be a tracking sheet and the credit recovery teacher can look up and assign you to the class. Each quarter of credit recovery is $25. If you have a fee waiver, this is waived. If you need financial assistance, please talk to your Gear Up Advisors Monica Rogerson or Sonja Blodgett.






Ways to earn credits ONLINE this summer:

  • Utah Online: https://utahonline.org/ to view class options and enroll. Classes are FREE. You must request to have your grades send to Cottonwood when you finish.


  • GSD Online: $50 per class (summer classes are all .50 credits). Here is the COURSE MENU and here is the REGISTRARATION FORM. Classes are filled on first come first serve basis and may fill up quickly (Drivers Ed Online will fill very fast). Registration open on Monday April 17th at 8:00AM. TURN IN YOUR REGISTRATION FORM to your counselor. Registration due 5/4/2023




Pre-Health Summer Program at SLCC


Located at the SLCC Jordan campus. Learn about the many careers in the industry. Gain exposure to health careers, Earn $14 an hour and learn about college life! Scan the QR code on the flyer to sign up.










Job Fair for Summer Work: April 20th 2-6 pm. For Adults and students. 85 leading employers in fields of technology, healthcare, finance and education. At Copper Hills High School.



















Summer Bridge Program at SLCC - for seniors planning to attend SLCC next year. An 8 week program to help students transition to college. Earn college credit and up to a $2,000 stipend. Applications are due by April 7. https://sway.office.com/LriwoNwxv6oPghNq?ref=Link




 



UVU Excelerate -For graduating seniors who plan on attending Utah Valley University.

UVU Excelerate – A Project-Based Summer Program for 1st-year students

  • Eligible population: first-generation incoming first-year UVU students

  • Free tuition and fees for a General Education course that counts toward any degree

  • Real-world project with an external partner enables students to work on something that matters outside the course

  • Small class sizes (max. 20 students)

  • Students work in teams to develop communication and leadership skills

  • Design thinking and team communication orientation workshops

  • Embedded peer tutors/mentors provide course support and programming for campus and career connections



 


Mind RIOT at the Leonardo

High school student competition June 19th - 21st. Registration is due May 19th. Grand prize is $2,000. Participants produce entrepreneurial solutions around the theme of water and compete/pitch ideas to improve their communities. Youth Works: Earn a $100 stipend a week. For youth 14-18 years old to learn employment training and life skills. Gain experience in service hours, leadership, communication and work on community revitalization projects. More info below.

Southern Utah University Early College Online

Program


SUU is offering online courses to high school students during the Summer 2023 semester.

The courses we are offering this summer are:

  • English 1010

  • English 2010 / Information Literacy 1010 (These two courses are co-required and must be taken together)

  • Humanities 1010

  • Math 1030

  • Physics 1010


Please note that English and Math courses have prerequisite requirements in order to be able to register for them. Prerequisites can be satisfied by achieving the appropriate ACT or placement test scores. More information about placement tests can be found on the SUU testing center website: (https://www.suu.edu/academicsuccess/testing-services/). Tuition for courses offered through the ECO program is $75 dollars per credit hour. This would make a typical 3 credit course $225 dollars. Students are also required to pay for their own textbooks, if the course has one. The courses we are offering over the summer can be used to help satisfy the Utah Opportunity Scholarship requirements. Requirements for students to be admitted into the ECO program are:

  • High School GPA of 3.0 or Higher (a copy of the students transcript must be submitted as part of the application process)

  • Parent/ Guardian Permission

  • Students should be either a Junior or Senior in High School as of Fall 2023
