FAFSA Open House October 14, 2020 Cottonwood High School Library

Seniors, Parents/Guardians,

October kicks off a very important time for seniors. One of the most important aspects for applying for college is applying for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is the now, more than ever, the number one requirement for most state scholarships and the way to help pay for college. Even if you think you won't qualify for federal aid, apply, many families are often surprised. It is the gateway to Grants (don't need to be re-paid), Federal Loans (lower interest rates that do not need to be paid back until after graduation), Scholarships (awards that don't need to be paid back), and work-study (on-campus jobs).

The earlier you apply the better. Applications open October 1st, and Cottonwood will host an event to help support you and your student in the application process. Our first FAFSA Open House is on October 14th. Come anytime between 4-8pm. We will have several financial aid professionals at the event to help answer your questions. Food will be provided for each Cottonwood student and one parent that attends. Masks and Social Distancing is required.

Please view this list for items that students and parents/guardians should bring to successfully complete an application.
